Suggestions Please

Okay it's Sunday and I am looking to come up with a good workout plan for this week as I feel when I go to the gym I am ALL over the place. I usually work my legs/arms/shoulders but I really want to tone up my entire body but especially my legs. I really want to get more into strength training as I enjoy it. I still need to lose these few pounds I gained back as well. What is a great plan to follow when at gym and what equipment should I be focusing on and should I lift heavy or what. Does anyone have any suggestions that can help my life easier. lol . Thanks to all for any suggestions.

They should add a FAQ here, since that is asked daily.
Try one of the popular lifting programs, like New Rules of Lifting, Stronglifts, Starting Strength, etc. Stronglifts is free online.
With any good program, you will be starting light while you learn good forum, then progress heavier.

I like the approach endorsed by Sean Foy that he calls "4321" but when I do it I actually try to extend each phase and include a warm up so that it goes like this:

    5 minutes cardio warmup
4 minutes intense cardio (running intervals, jumping jacks, or burpees)
3 minutes strength (machines or body resistance exercises such as planks, squats, pushups or free weights)
    2 minutes flexibility (core work)
    1 minute relaxation

and that you do this at least 3 different days per week, with longer periods of cardio only on your off days. 54321 is a ratio that can be expanded or repeated if you have more time, but just like the other poster said, start light while you learn good form, don' t injure yourself if you want to come back again.

It is easy to use iTunes to make a playlist to cue you when a phase is done.
