Recently started using the myfitnesspal android app about a month ago, and figured I'd introduce myself to the community. Losing weight has been hard since I have no one to do it with, but I've been holding myself accountable on Facebook. Basically I pick a day, and report my weight fluctuations weekly on Facebook for all to see. I feel if I were to stop, I'd be letting everyone down (and not just myself).
I've been overweight all my life, and been on and off diets since High School. I gained a LOT more weight in college. I entered at around 240, and left at about 295. I can blame the tight budget (got sale items when I could, lots of high fat meat and rice, love pasta, etc), school food (fried foods/burgers/pizza, giant sandwiches, eat whenever and how much I wanted), and drinking (binged a lot freshman and sophomore years), but it was really just me. I could have eaten right, but I just loved to eat (and drink) whatever I wanted when I wanted.
Tried dieting after college, and brought my weight back down to 268. Been at about that +/- 10 for a few years now until I downloaded this app. Currently I'm at 245.6, and my goal is 175. I've already noticed a difference in how tight I can make my belt, although I can't wait until I actually have to buy new clothes. I don't have measurements sadly; I never thought to do that when I started.
One of the best things I've accomplished has been avoiding McDonalds and Burger King entirely (except 2 medium cups of coffee) for the last 7(ish) years. I still go to Dunkin for coffee, and Taco Bell (once a month), but I always watch how many total calories I consume from those places and adjust accordingly.
Before I forget, does anyone have any tips on exercises I can do when my legs hurt? I'm doing a challenge at work called "Step Up for Hunger" so I've been walking a lot to get my step count up.
