Creating a deficit

hi everyone
I've purchased a Polar FT4 hrm so i can keep track of how many calories i'm burning as at the moment I'm not keeping track whatsoever. My BMR according to my fitness pal is 1,301. and I am eating 1200-1400 calories a day. I'm confused with this idea of creating a deficit..If I were to eat 1200 a day with no exercise, what would my weekly deficit be? If I were to know that, Do I then take away the calories i've burnt from exercise? thanks all

Hi there, welcome! You would cut from your TDEE not your BMR.

My fitness pal figures your calorie allowance to lose weight, depending on the data you provide it, so you would eat that amount plus a portion of your exercise calories back.
