Feeling sick to my stomach a week into my diet?

Hi guys, I'm new on here. I started MFP about a year ago but fell off the wagon. I started again last Tuesday more determined than ever. I am a 20 year old female, 5'6'' tall and I weigh apprx. 149 lbs. I'm wanting to lose 10-15 pounds, and I don't really have a time in which I want to lose it - I want it to be slow enough to stay off by come off fast enough that I won't get discouraged. I have been trying to consumer around 1,200 calories a day and walk around 4 miles a day. Between the MFP app and a different app, I think I am burning around 300-350 calories per work out. I'm trying to only eat 1,200 calories a day and not include those I've burned from working out. Should I anyway? I do some days. But since yesterday morning, I have been sick to my stomach. It just feels flat upset. I came home from a hard "power walking" session, showered, ate 2 waffles (plain, no syrup or anything) and some watermelon. But even before I ate, I was feeling sick to my stomach. I thought it was just because I was hungry, so I ate and then laid down for about an hour. But I still felt bad, just not as bad. Then yesterday evening around 7:30 I felt sick to my stomach again, almost like I would throw up. It was like a true hungry feeling; right under where my bra is in the center of my stomach. I'm feeling better today, but not fully back to normal. Is this okay? I typically eat relatively decent, but a dietitian told my mom that in order to lose weight, eat 1,200 calories a day - it doesn't matter what you eat, but when you hit that 1,200 calorie mark, stop eating. So I kind of go by this guideline. I know if I stop eating things I want and just eat all healthy, I will simply crave everything until I fall off the wagon again. So I'm trying to take it slow. Any tips or advice? Thanks for reading my really long post! ( :

I think you need to calculate your TDEE and find out how many calories you really need. I'm 5'7", 145 lbs, 36yo, I eat 1800 calories a day, and I'm losing 0.5 lbs per week. 1200 is very low, especially for someone your height who doesn't have much to lose, and that would explain why you are feeling so rotten.

I'd consult a doctor about the nausea. If you're starting a weight loss journey, it's a good idea to see one, anyway. That nausea could be nothing, but it could be something.
Better safe than sorry.0 -
You don't have to eat only 1200 calories a day to lose weight. I'm the same height as you, 12 years older, and smaller and lost weight at 1800 calories a day. Read the links provided above for sure.0

Thanks guys, I may have just been working out too hard for a couple of days. I relaxed a little on my workouts and the sickness went away. Either that, or I'm not eating enough.0

May I ask how much you weigh? If that's you in the profile pic, you look really good. I'm not too upset with my weight, I'd just like to be a little smaller overall. I've tried dieting before, but it seems that my weight never actually changes. I've been told that it's harder for someone not really overweight to lose weight because your body will hold onto your fat and make it harder to lose it as opposed to someone who has much more weight to lose. I have yet to weigh myself since I started exercising and changing my eating habits. This Tuesday will make 2 weeks, so I'm gonna weigh myself then. I'm hoping for around a 3 pound weight loss.
May I also ask what you did to drop weight?overweight, my body is holding on to fat.0 -
This doesn't make sense, but I also get light headed and nauseated if I need to eat. I also have that feeling if I exercise and it gets really hot, like today. I experienced it more when I was on a low-carb diet. Atkins and Phase I of South Beach always made me extremely nauseated, especially if I worked out. I ended up adding carbs to my diet and felt better. Also, I'm on 1200 calories a day because I'm short and older (55), but I eat back the exercise calories. For instance, I burned about 300 today, so I get to eat 1500. You need to fuel your activity, and 1200 is pretty low for someone your age and height.0
