Fear of the changing room....

Anyone else scared to go clothes shopping?
So, I know I have come a long way in this journey, now down about 76lbs. I started off at around 260....I used to only be able to shop in plus size stores. Now, I am pretty sure that I can fit into normal sizes by now, but it seems like I am pushing myself forward for an extreme change. I am scared that I will go into a store, try on a size and look like crap. I keep feeling like if I just maybe lose another 20lbs I might be happier at a smaller size and feel better about myself. I think my perception of myself is a little off. I am not even completely sure what my size is either....sigh....why am I so scared of the clothing tags???
I know, this is kinda a long shot, but maybe some of you ladies could reply with your measurements and clothing sizes, specifically in the pants department, it might make me build up enough courage to face the change room.
My measurements are as follows......
Waist: 34"
Hips: 40"
Thigh: 22.5"
Height: 5'7"
Thanks, really really appreciate it

I am totally sure you could fit into clothes from whatever store you want, based on your height/weight/measurements.... Gap, Banana Republic, Loft, etc...... Happy shopping!0

What size are you wearing? How can you lose 76 pounds and not have changed quite a few sizes by now? Seems like you are a size 12. But you should be thrilled - and I assure you - you will be - when you fit into those size 12's in the dressing room. Do yourself a favor and buy higher quality - will probably fit in a size 10! Nothing wrong with wanting to keep losing. My doctor says 5'7" should be between 155 and 160 pounds. So, you can keep on going down to a size 8! How cool would that be? Appears you have the right formula going for you!0

my measurements:
Waist: 32"
Hips: 37"
Thigh: 23"
Height 5'7
I fit into a size 7 pants and my pants with a waist number are a 28.
Since we're pretty close in the measurements and height you're probably somewhere close to this.0 -
Weight-wise, I started about where you started (286) and have lost about the same amount of weight that you have (around 80 lbs, weigh-in is tonight). I am 5' 6" tall. I don't have my measurements, but was forced to do some shopping this week for a funeral. I easily wore size 16 pants from the "normal" departments. I also was able to find lots of tops/jackets that fit well. I'm not sure where you are in the world, but I looked at Nordstrom (higher-end department store), Macy's (department store), and Coldwater Creek (catalog/boutique). I have been wearing size 16 Lands End jeans for a few weeks now.
Give it a try. Pick whichever place near you is likely to have consistent sizes and give it a whirl. I really had fun trying stuff on for the first time in AGES!0 -
waist 32"
hips 39.5"
Thighs 22" (i think)
Height 5"3
weighing 155
Don't know how much it will do for you since I'm shorter....I wear a 12 in pants (12 short or petite).
It's been a while since I really went clothes shopping, hoping that after Christmas I will be able to. The only thing you can do is go in and try them on. You will never know until you do it. I have tried some 12's that don't fit and some that do. Maybe go to where you normally shop and if all those sizes are too big then maybe be go to another store that you couldn't go to before?0 -

So I think this is where my perceptions become a little dazed and confused....The biggest size I ever remember wearing was a size 19...apparently a juniors size??? Anyhow....I am sure I should have been in a bigger sized based on the huge muffin top that I used to sport around....but for some reason, I figured if I just wore a big hoodie, it didn't matter if my pants were to tight....as of right now, I am wearing a 13....they are a little baggy and I am sure I could almost move down a size or two.
My main problem is, most of my clothing is comfortable....not really like jogging pants, but more like...containing a little bit of spandex. It just scares me a little that I will go to try on something fitting and I will be disappointed in the way they fit. I really need to get over it and just go shopping....but for some reason I have tons of clothes that are still in a bigger size that still fit....(yes they are a little baggy, but they work....)0
