LA Fitness vs Planet Fitness

So I currently have a membership at LA Fitness but it is coming to an end in the next couple of weeks. I pay a year in advance and do not do the month to month thing. I am debating between renewing or switching to Planet Fitness because PF is closer to my house, but everything I see about Planet Fitness is super negative. I wanted to try them out to see how I felt about it but they want $20 just for a one day pass which is absolutely ridiculous. I used to go to Planet Fitness years ago but this is a new location and there are not many Yelp reviews for me to reference.
What opinions do you have regarding Planet Fitness? Would you make the switch?
Thanks in advance!

LA fitness is a more well rounded gym.
Planet fitness is a great 2nd gym or option if you are just trying to work out.
If you have ANY inkling of long term training stick with LA Fit. I actually really liked mine. I kind of miss it!!!0 -
^^ What she said. I don't care for Planet Fitness personally because I feel like they often are the anti fit. However, I know several people that use it and say it works for what they want. If you are going to do anything more than just run on a treadmill, I would stick with LA Fitness, or maybe a Gold's Gym Express (if you're looking for cost effective options) if there is one in your area.0

My planet fitness that i go to does not allow deadlifts, have actually been told twice to stop even though i was not dropping the weights or grunting at all. Can only do squats on the smith machine, are not allowed to do T-bar rows whatsoever, have seen females kicked out for exposing their midriff. Only reason im there is a holiday deal that was $75 for the entire year, no fees or anything. I am currently keeping an eye out for the LA Fitness, Golds Gym deals that pop up sometimes and do squats and deadlifts at home in the garage.0

My first choice for a gym is convenience.
Which place will I more likely to attend on a routine basis because lets admit it, there are just days you dont feel like going.
There was a gym I could have received a discount monthly but it was a few more miles away. I chose the one a little more expensive but extremely convenient.0 -
deepends on what your into.
if you do a lot of barbell training PF wont appeal to you.
if you do a lot of machines then thats the place to be0 -
Hi. My son and I both go to planet fitness and we are very unhappy with it. He is differently abled and twice now they treated him like crap and denied it. (he's a very cheerful person) They also didn't let him in once because they didn't like what he was wearing. It's not worth all the "rules" you have to follow. Save your $20 and go back to LA fitness. I have a feeling that's where we're headed. Good luck to you! :-)0
