Eating Schedule Problem

Hello friends! I need some advice. I have a 3 hour physics class this summer that's goes from 11am-2pm. It takes ~20 minutes to drive to the school, so in actuality my class goes from 10:30am-2:30pm.

This really messes up my eating schedule. I eat breakfast before 10am, but then I don't get to eat "lunch" until 2:30pm. And then when I eat a late lunch, I don't get hungry until later in the evening (like 7:30 or later). My original goal was to not eat anything after 7:00pm. Should I eat a larger breakfast, a smaller lunch, and then a larger dinner around 6:00?

Should I eat more snacks during class to make up for a missed lunch? I always thought dinner should be the smaller meal because you generally get more exercise during the day.

Thanks!

Meal timing is irrelevant to weight loss. It is completely up to the individual on what works for them. There's nothing wrong with eating all your calories, if you wanted, right before bed. I couldn't do it, as I'd get a tummy ache but so as long as my activity level stayed the same, I'd lose the same amount as if I'd eaten it sparsely throughout the day.

Last night I ate 1400 calories before bed. Woke up to weigh myself with a record low for the week. Eat when you need to!

Check with the professor to see if its okay to eat during class, and keep in mind that someone may be allergic to airborne particles, and that no one wants to smell your lunch in the middle of class. So long as you eat quietly, and respect the others around you, most professors now don't mind. Some more old school ones will. I have one that won't even let us have water in class, because it can be distracting, and I have another one who doesn't mind, and yet another who insists if we're going to have snacks, we have to have enough to share.

Since the class is during lunch however, the prof will probably not mind an ounce.

Not eating after 7 is not going to help your weight loss. Long term weight loss success is more likely when you diet flexibly and in a manner that fits your lifestyle.

^^This. Meal timing is irrelevant and your body will adjust quickly. I don't eat my first meal until after 2pm and I eat dinner at 9:30PM. I go to sleep easily an hour later and I'm doing great.

    Um

eat when you can and when it works for you?

All week long I typically eat around 1 PM. I have no lunch.

If it's the weekend- I am at the dance studio from 11-1- or 9-noon. no food- it doesn't work for me and I can't be bothere.

I eat all my big meals at 1030 or 11 PM at night when I get home.

    it's fine- still fabulous.

Eat when you can- scheduling is a ridculous thing.

While eating late may not affect calorie burn, for me, it does affect my sleep since I go to bed early. So I'd "front-load" your day--eat a good hearty breakfast, bring a substantial snack/lunch for class (you must get a break), and maybe another snack for your way home (or have a snack in mind for when you arrive home). Then eat dinner when you're hungry--maybe 5 or 6pm. That's what I would do anyway.

I teach swim from about 10am-6pm and I don't eat very much while I am teaching because it upsets my stomach. That means I eat about 1000 calories for breakfast, 1000 for dinner and some random snacks here and there.
