Newbie gains?

I'm taking a 3wk boot camp trial & I just had my 2 week weigh-in. Std scale (clothes + shoes), hand-held BIA (tanita I think).
Same time of day, hydration levels & other conditions.
Total Weight: 159lb --> 158lb = -1lb
Fat %: 38.4% --> 36.2%
Lean: 97.9lb --> 100.8lb = + 2.9lb
Fat: 61.1lb --> 57.2lb = -3.9lb
Is an almost 3lb muscle gain possible for newbie gains, or is the BIA just being nice to me?
It seems a bit much for just 2 weeks.
Measurements are all over the map - some down an inch, others up (I assume user error until I see steady trends).

Probably fluid retention, which is common when increasing exercise volume. It's temporary.
I'm glad you think it's good. The lack of weight loss has ended countless New year's resolutions.0 -
i agree. LBM incorporates everything that is not fat. and water retention is pretty standard for starting a new program.
keep it up, and give it a couple of weeks... you can start looking for trends, and then make a call.
good luck!0
