Garage Gym/Indoor Gym/ Sore Throat

I workout at my friends gym which is in their garage, so I am working out most days outside in 90 degree weather.
Been doing this for 3 months now.

I did a kickboxing class inside in air conditions and my throat was burning so bad and I couldn't stop coughing.
I was a bit worried.. and then again last night I went for an extra workout with my hubs to his gym and we made an obstacle course and it was air conditioned.. and the same thing happened.

This sucks big time. :( Why does this happen?

Just a guess here. Air conditioners dry air out and with the air already being colder it makes the airways in your throat and lungs close up some possibly causing a sore(ish) throat or burning throat / lungs. My guess is that this would be exacerbated by starting off at a rapid pace before you have the chance to bring your body up to temp.

Try starting off slower when working out in the AC and see if this helps.

Cool air rushing down your throat and into your lungs can cause soreness and slight asthma. I know I have mild exercise induced asthma. You have to take it slower, more warm up if the cold air bothers you.

Thanks guys. I'll try to take it slower when I am indoors (in AC) and see if it helps me out.

Thankfully I work out outside almost daily.. indoors is just an occasional thing.
