Back after one month break, thoughts on my new mindset?

I've just returned home from a month long holiday in South East Asia. Seeing a different part of the world has really changed my outlook and made me realise how shallow and obsessive Western society can be. I'm certainly guility of this!
For the second half of the year I am focusing on letting go and listening to my body and mind rather than various magazines/personal trainers/the media in general. I'm sticking with MFP as it has been an invaluable tool in treating my IBS and I like connecting to other people going through the same journey.
Anyway from now on there will be no more guilt, no more restriction and no more stressing about every morsel I put in my mouth. I'm going to start eating intuitively by listening to my body, giving my body food as fuel only and moving daily as my body is meant to do - even if it's only a half hour walk and some stretches. I have a rough routine but I won't stress if something disrupts this, it's flexible and mostly aimed at getting ready and up on time for work!
By letting go of the rules, obessions, restrictions, schedules and comparisons around fitness and weight loss I'm allowing my mind to become free and find a far better mental path to follow to ensure long term results. Eventually I hope to start incorporating some specific fitness goals like training for a 50km cycle, or swimming 2km non stop, but until my mindset is in a good place I don't want to put pressure on myself.
What do you all think of my new mindset, is it a good path to be on?

Eat healthy stuff, eat it when you're hungry and stop when you're full. Go outside and move. You'll still lose weight.
The math, acronyms and electronic gadgets are great for people who are into that stuff, but none of it is necessary for actual weight loss. You don't even need a scale. It's just fun to watch the numbers go down.0 -
Fabulous mindset, that's what it should all be about! :flowerforyou: No one should ever feel guilty for having some cake, a chocolate finger or ordering dessert at a family occassion. That's crazy! However..... You do have to have some willpower and determination to stick within some boundries - don't reach the 'stuffed' feeling and completely eat whatever you wish. This is definitely easier said than done as hunger signals and eating intuitively is a lot easier for some than others - it's about learning and knowing your own mind and body. Good luck with your new mindset, I think you'll be a lot happier!0

I recommened meditation, this will help you in being completely honest with your goals and listening to your body.
It will bring you to your true inner state and help you with the way you want to proceed with your lifestyle
I am from Canada, and I am currently working for a year here in Beijing China. I know what you mean by how heavy and different the western culture is! With Lifestyle AND FOOD! ha ha
I think your new mindset is the only mindset we should have. As there is a feel of appreciation for what we have, (like food) without the crave or desire of gluttony or to over indulge. I find especially the west, takes everything for granted.

I know what you mean. Last summer I spent 5 weeks in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand and came home to the USA with seemingly a different perspective on life. Unfortunately, real life got back in my way and my new perspective faded a bit I second the meditation idea. I'm trying something similar and it's definitely a more relaxed and peaceful way to live.0
