water weight or fat loss?

So recently I've been at a plateau, stuck between 173.5 and 174. Today after increasing my workouts and staying at my calorie goal for 2 weeks, I'm down to 173. However, someone told me that I shouldn't be too happy because losing "a pound or two" is probably just water weight and that I should stop doing my workouts for a few days to get through a plateau (???) I'm pretty sure she's full of BS but I just thought I'd ask you guys what you think.

well stopping the workouts might result in a loss but then you would gain it back when you started again, so that pretty much defeats the purpose0

A two week timeframe is nothing to be alarmed over. It is a normal part of the process for weight to stall for a few weeks. Hormones, water, sodium, stress, exercise, bowels, medication, etc. affect the rate at which your body burns fat from week to week. Since you were losing then continue on the same way, have patience, and give your body time to do its job.0

Thank you! Yes I figured since I am at a downward trend overall I'm doing the right thing and should keep it up but I always like to get more opinions if possible!0

^^ I agree.
Wait it out another week or so while strictly sticking to your calorie goal. If you really are in a stall, try recalculating your calories. We need to readjust sometimes as we lose weight.0
