Help! Eating out at the Movies.

Hi,
I am still pretty new here and need some advice.
I have been within my calorie gold for two weeks now (making sure I weight and measure everything properly) and started a gym and compared to before exercising regularly.
I seldom get a night out and I want to go and see a movie tonight and have only used a few of my calorie allowance for the day so far and did 40 mins on an elliptical machine this afternoon.
I would really like to cheat and have chicken tenders and seasoned wedges at the movies but I have now way of knowing how much calories are in the tenders and if their size servicing of wedge fries is 1 portion or 2.
Do I just do a rough estimate by looking up a generic brand?
Also I am really serious about sticking to this and looking for some friends to compare, get advice and encourage each other.
Thanks.

Just look up the cal content of like foods at places and take the highest one.
No reason why you cannot indulge once in awhile, or as a win win just dont each much at all during the day and save the calories for the movies.
...and btw...movies without the popcorn is a sin.0 -
Or, if you're getting popcorn, see if you can look up the nutrition on their website. Or even with just searching AMC movie popcorn and then going by what you're going to get at the movies. I usually share my popcorn, so I go with large size and take the calorie hit for the entire bag. After the movie, I see how much of the bag I've eaten and do a rough estimate rounded up.
If you can, get a water instead of a soda. It'll also help you from eating too much popcorn too.
Good luck!0 -
My son had chicken tenders at the movies the other night. It was an AMC - and in the data base - just check out AMC chicken tenders if yours isn't in the database. Should be close at least. I think they were 700 calories or so. Or as you said do generic - you'll be close enough for one night.0

just estimate the best you can...beyond that, it's one night and one night is pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.0

Im on an eating plan that allows 2 cheat meals a week. The theory is one meal shouldnt completly blow your diet. Over time Ive learned about how many starchy veggies I can eat and not affect my weight loss too terribly bad and how to make good food choices on those cheat meals. I know we want to count calories on every thing but perhaps mentally, enjoy your movie meal and then get right back on it. Thats just my 2 cents.0

Thanks,
I forgot to mention that unfortunately in my country (Trinidad) our restaurants and eating places do not post the calorie information of there foods like they do in the States. :-(0 -
If you are on track for the rest of the week then one day will not hurt you.0

I've been sneaking food into movie theaters for at least 30 years. There is rarely anything at the concession stand that would fit into my calories unless I did not eat anything else for the rest of the day. And I'm unwilling to do that.0

Doesn't almost everyone?0 -
