Gutted hot dog buns

So I was grilling hot dogs at a BBQ, I figured I could have at least one if I scoop some of the bread out from each side. So I did that. The bun was 120 calories. Anyone have any idea how many calories that bun would be gutted? Thanks in advance.... Also I'm new to myfitnesspal and I love it! I need friends feel free to add me!

Shouldve weighed it beforehand than weighed it again after but...why? Perfectly good hot dog bun...0

there are starving childern in China! or Africa! or where ever they are starving right now0

Next time maybe cut the bun in half. Easier to figure out how much you ate, and a lot less weird.0

For 120cals... eat the whole bun. Not worth wasting delicious, carby goodness.
ETA: You'd have to weigh it to even get a rough estimate. Eyeballing it just won't cut it here.0 -
that sounds really disappointing...
Anyway, the only way to know for sure is to weigh the bun before, then weigh it after and do some math.0 -

yes, you would weigh the grams before, then re-weigh. Then you would divide the two to figure out the % and track it that way.
But only OCD math geeks like me would do something like that…. errrr, um, not that I have done that or anything.0 -
I think you'll be best just logging it as the whole bun.0

Um, weigh your food?0

I love hot dogs. This post makes me sad.0

Might as well just skip the bun. I do that. I have even encased it in ground bison and then wrapped it in bacon. Don't knock it until you try it! SO GOOD! With a ketchup dipping sauce! Sounds like heart attack on a plate, but nitrate free all beef hotdogs, organic ground bison and nitrate free, uncured bacon. See... I'm trying to rationalize why I am trying to make these things sound healthier without the bun0

:P I do it to fruit with "cores" and "pits" all the time lol. Weigh it. Log it. Eat it. Re weigh and subtract the core xD0 -
Gutting the bun is a brilliant idea. Half a bun is hard to handle at a picnic. If anyone asks why you're mangling your bun, tell them you're watching your carbs. That makes sense to most people.
They market thin bread. Maybe we should market hollow buns.
Do weigh it, though, just to see what you get. You're guessing at things at a barbecue, anyway. Taking your scale would be weirder than gutting your bun.0 -
Not going to lie, there was once a time I had considered doing the same thing. What's a lot less weird it just eat the hot dog by itself with a knife and fork. Even less weird than that is just eat it on a bun. But like everyone else has said, weigh it before and after and do a little math.0

I do this all the time with the local C-Store and top with chili and cheese.....nom nom nom!0 -
Just for future reference, there are lower-calorie hot dog buns available. I always buy Aunt Millie's 80 calorie hot dog buns and use those instead, because they taste exactly the same and they leave me extra calories to eat somewhere else.
But to answer your question, weighing the bun before and after gutting it would be the only real way to know exactly how many calories you're eating.0
