You have to eat under your BMR to loose weight if you are not exercising., plain and simple.

No you don't. I think you're confusing BMR and TDEE. For example, my BMR is ~1400. My TDEE (w/ 3day/wk strength & 2 day/wk cardio factored in) is ~2000. I eat ~1500-1600 to lose weight.

The TDEE number is the crucial one for determining daily caloric intake.

ETA: Even if not exercising, one's TDEE can be sufficiently high that a deficit can be created to allow loss eating at BMR. Sorry my reading comprehension is low today. Please forgive mah goof.

To the OP--more info is needed to answer that fully. It depends on age, height, weight, and gender to be able to get an estimate of one's BMR and sedentary TDEE.

I include any type of activity within my definition of exercise. So when I say "not exercising" I assume a sedentary lifestyle. We are on the same page though.

Gotcha  ! Yeah, my reply was awkward and dumbly stated. But, yeah, most people, if their only movement is to the fridge and toilet, yeah, you'll just have to eat under BMR to lose.

There are specific circumstances where bedridden or wheelchair bound people have really no other choice. And of course, we assume they will be at least under supervision of a physician or registered dietician.
