Perfection and Grinding Through

In response to a client who was talking about perfection and not feeling perfect at the moment.
"Perfection is an illusion that robs people of their willpower and inner strength.
It's important to expect a lot from yourself. But don't drive those expectations into the realm of unrealistic or impossible. It'll only hurt you.
You need to expect a lot from yourself while also being kind to yourself. You need to be forgiving and flexible. You need to allow for variability in willpower, excitement, etc. Life is a dynamic process. Training and nutrition are merely one small sliver of a giant volatile pie. Your feeling of being "on" will ebb and flow just like any other aspect of your life.
Those who succeed long term learn to grind through the "off" times. They accept it for what it is, they own the responsibility of committing and staying consistent even when the oomph isn't there. They also see the big picture - knowing full well that their mojo will come back.
Don't forget about your goals and affirmations. Working on connecting with the Future You is very important. Mentally experiencing that Future You is what pulls your monstrous, instinctive, emotional subconscious mind into alignment with where you're trying to consciously go."
