Is a little pooch ok?

I am 5'4'' and 170. That being said I am super curvy and have a very small waist. I recently bought a jersey maxi dress that looks amazing except I have a little lower belly pooch. I can not use shape wear because of the lines. Is it ok to have a little pooch or is that totally gross looking. Should I try to keep looking for something to smooth it out? Please Help I love this outfit and luckily it is super comfortable!

If you like the dress, and like how you look in it... who cares what anyone else thinks?0

Do you feel comfortable in it or will you constantly be wondering if you look okay? The only person you need to please is yourself but if you are going to be worried about it every time you wear it, it might be a mood killer.0

This. Gross is also too strong a word, there are some gorgeous plus size models who have way more than a little pooch.
That said, I have a morbid fear of being asked if I'm pregnant, plus I slouch, which makes it worse, plus, all my weight is now in my belly, so I tend to either not wear clothes that let it poke out (except to swim) or I wear something under it to stop that from happening, which you already said won't work for this garment.
So, have someone else look at it. If that person thinks you could be mistaken for slightly pregnant and you can't stand anyone else asking if you are, maybe wait awhile to wear it.0 -
If you feel comfortable, that's all that matters0

There's some comfortable shapewear out there. I found some at Target--I didn't want something to squeeze me like a sausage. This stuff is more like a light pair of shorts that just smoothes you out a tiny bit. I have a little tummy from my c-section, and it works great for that, plus it's light and not tight feeling. I think it's got the word "Comfort" or something like that in the brand name.0

I was always a bit sensitive about mine and then when we were at a pool while on vacation, my husband pointed out that most women in bikinis, except for very thin ones, have a small amount of belly fat right below the navel. If you have studied art history, sculpture and paintings from the Renaissance era show women with bellies, which was considered beautiful, called a "Venus mound" (not what you think!). Sometimes I think we were all born in the wrong era.0

Ok for whom?0

depends on how comfortable you are with yourself..
I have some..Its below my navel..I am not sure if its fat or skin..but I hate it..hate it hate it hate it
I took a risk and wore a two piece, in public, for the first time afew weeks ago..thought I looked good..then I saw pictures..and was throughly embarassed...I promptly went out and bought a tankini..
thing is..I see women much bigger then me walking around in two pieces..
so the moral kiddies is..if YOU are comfortable, do it. if YOU are not comfortable, dont do it.0 -

Depends on who you are askling. I would wear the belt if it has a belt a little looser to compensate.0

I know a guy who called it a FUPA. do your own guessing. I am not writing it down. But it's a fact, he called it that.
To the moderator, I'm not cursing or namecalling, just in case.0 -

Yep, mine is a FUPA, too. Easy enough to google the meaning. And I am determined to get rid of it. I absolutely hate it and it's where I'm now keeping virtually all my extra fat. Like some kind of confused camel that didn't know where the hump was supposed to go. Although come to think of it, I wouldn't want a hump of fat on my back, either!0 -
I didn't know that term! I looked it up. The pictures on the Web are digusting, though. Not like the paintings or sculptures. I have to admit I went to a spa once where women used the hot tubs, etc., completely undressed, and most had bellies there, but not that bad. I guess my limit is if it's an "overhang." (Thank God mine isn't yet!)0
