I've never dyed my hair before and want something extremely temporary (like washes out in the first wash) for a cosplay costume I'm doing. Anyone recommend anything? I want a coppery red ideally. My hair is currently brown (but not super dark brown).

TRUSSSSSSSSSSST ME! I've dyed my hair every color in the boook..go to Sally's or even your local walgreens or something along those lines and find HAIR CALK..Or..Splat makes this hair dye that you put on and blow dry and it washes out when you shampoo your hair0

If this is for cosplay, I'd suggest skipping the dye entirely and buying a wig.
A decent wig will look better than dyed hair 99% of the time, especially for bright colors, and especially especially when going from brown to anything but darker brown.0 -
Hm thanks. I don't think I want a wig, I want basically my same hair but with a slight reddish/coppery hue to it (i have the right shape of hair right now.) But I'll keep that in mind!0

In that case, maybe henna? It's really good for red tints, and it fades/washes out pretty quickly.0 -
It may depend on your hair color. If you have dark hair then maybe henna will wash out. I used henna and it was bright orange and did not wash out. It took me two years to grow it out and ended up with my hair cut to my chin. But, if you don't mind the color possibly sticking around a bit, you could try it.0

No, but some of my hair is white.0 -

Maybe it was the light base? I've done it with brunettes and gotten a nice burgundy to copper highlight, and I've done it on darker blondes and gotten a lovely strawberry, but everlasting orange-
My sympathies, friend. That is- Well. Ouch.0 -

I did like it at first and used it for a while. It probably built up in color. I tried adding indigo. The indigo washed out, and henna stayed. It was a process, but been gone for a while now.0
