Suddenly Bread Intolerant?

I have never had a problem with any type of food, but since doing MFP I have cut way back on the amount of bread (lovely hot fresh fat white crusty with lashings of butter) and rarely have it now. When I do fit it into my calorie count, I am having massive stomach pains!? Terrible bloating within 30minutes and cramping pains right up under my ribs - like a balloon is inflated. Is it possible to suddenly become allergic to bread? Even a small slice of fresh, unbuttered crust will put me in pain for hours. It is so disappointing. Is this common? Does your body just stop accepting certain types of food?

I don't know but I have problems with fatty foods that I never had before.
Carbs for me... they hurt my tummy too now. But they did before and I just thought I was a gassy person. Now I just know it was the high carbs causing my discomfort.

Not gonna lie but pain under your ribs sounds like gas pain. Also its unlikley that you would suddenly become allergic to "bread" since thats not really a single incredient food per sey. That being said I guess You could be allergic to an ingredient in the bread.
Generally allergies present with hives, itchyness, tingling in the mouth or lack of breathing etc.0 -
I wonder the similar thing, about bread and sugar. Seems like I am more likely to get a headache after eating a bunch of bread. I may have to test blood sugar decay rate.
Bread is usually easy and fast to digest. I try to slow it down with lots of butter too.
+1 sounds like gas - ouch! I don't know if this works for anybody else but when my stomach is killing me with gas, sometimes I can pass it by alternating pulling my left then right knee tight to my chest for a while. Feels stupid until it works.0 -
Lol, thanks guys - have tried antacid and it does actually help a bit. Just feel annoyed that something I took for granted has suddenly become difficult to stomach!
Someone told me that the human body was never meant to eat the bleached wheat they put in bread - that all of the goodness and fibre has been removed to make it so white and soft. Can't be fussed to use my calories for the coarse grainy stuff yet though. Avoiding it altogether keeps the calories down anyway0
