Strength Training

This has probably been asked and answered, I'll apologize now, I couldn't find it.
When I add strength training to my log, it doesn't deduct calories, but when I do cardio it does. Is there a theory behind this? I assume I'm burning calories lifting. As I do a kettlebell and it's fast, my heartrate definitely gets up there.

If you have a heart rate monitor you'll be able to see how many calories you burned, and then you can just add your strength training in the cardio section. I wouldn't go by what MFP says in regards to how many calories a person actually burns. It tends to be over estimated at times.0

Thanks it never occurred to me to look in the cardio for it when there was a separate strength training section.0
