Hi. I'm relatively new to MFP--suggested by my trainer to help track food and exercise. I never realized the community aspect until this week. My status is "Permanent Change." I've dealt with food and weight issus all my life and it is time to put them to rest and live outside of being defined by them. For the first time I believe that there will be no turning back. It doesn't mean that I will be able to complete this journey perfectly. Who knows what that would look like anyway!

My status only reflects the past couple of weeks. I started making changes August 1st. Since then I have lost 25 pounds. My goal is to lose another 50 pounds.

Occasionally I visit the message boards. If you would like to request friend status, I would be glad to be one of your "cheerleader/encouragers". I have some great support with people at my gym and a few good friends. It never hurts to hear a few extra kind words from a stranger, though.

  • I found this site around a wk ago and I love it the people here r so kind with there encouragin words and their interestin posts. The calorie and other things counter is great. I havent done another weigh in yet but I will soon and hope I do see something and if not that gives me the encouragement to try harder.

Hello and welcome to the MFP forums! Congratulations on your decision to get fit and your progress so far! You'll find everyone on this site to be very positive, encouraging and motivating. Feel free to friend request me if you'd like. :)

Also, if you're on Facebook, please feel free to check out the group I created over there, called Motivation. Many positive, encouraging people and helpful posts over that way, too! http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=268180696780&ref=ts

Best wishes on your fitness journey!

MFP can be quite useful in helping with weight loss, keeping track of calories, setting goals, and learning the calorific values of food. I found a helpful review of it, which should help you as well, as its very thorough.
