    1. equipment (# of barbells, power cages, dumbbell selection, one of those cable machines that looks like a jungle gym)
    2. location
    3. price
    4. how busy it is
    5. amenities (A/C, washrooms, showers)
    6. hours of operation (i say this last because they are usually open at standard times)

location, HOO(hours of operation), equipment, floor space, gym floor space.
  • Free weight selection and a basketball court are top priorities. Good people to work out with and a helpful staff are also nice but that takes more than casual glance to find out.

    Location
    Price.
    Opening times

If it's not on my direct route to/from work I just won't go.

And if it's en route, but £100 a month, equally I won't join.

Currently a member of a no-frills gym, exactly half-way between work and my house. It's £15 a month and open 24/7, so I've no excuse for not going whatever time I start or finish work.

    Happy days.
