5:2 / FASTING DIETS

I'm doing 5:2 and having 500-600 calories on fast days. Do some people actually properly fast? What is best? I'm only 5'2 so my daily allowance is quite low anyway.

    I tried it. Found it didn't work well for me as I typically have low self control once I get hungry and can only control it for a few hours.

    Just remember, the 2 fasting days should not be next to each other.

    When I do 5:2, I completely fast except for water, coffee, and tea. I prefer it, I feel better, and it's easier to not eat at all than to make it all day on so few calories. But lots of people do fine on 500 calories, too. There is a 5:2 sub-forum here if you want to search groups.

    I have been doing the 5:2 for about 8 weeks. I do not fast completely. I have a poached egg/1 pc toast for breakfast and drink water, coffee, diet drinks until dinner when I eat lots of green salad and possibly fish. If I go over it is not by alot. I have found that it is very easy to keep this regime.

    Eating 500 calories IS proper fasting according to the 5:2 diet. I tried it for awhile, but frankly I was concerned about having 2 days out of the week where I couldn't hit my protein goal.

    curious about this... do you exercise on fasting days or is that a rest day?? For those who exercise, how did you go, did you have enough energy or feel light headed at any time?
