(36yo male) I've been at this for a while. Weighed 304 lbs in January 2012 and was down to 245 by September 2013. I hit a wall after a bad breakup and a death in the family. Was back up to 270 by March 2014. I started jogging again in April and dropped down to 260ish. I've been watching my intake on MFP. I log my food and use RunKeeper for my workouts. Jogging 3 days a week & lifting weights and walking 2-3 days a week since school let out (I teach). Scales haven't budged since May and I don't know what I'm doing wrong...

if you eat more calories than you burn, you won't lose weight. unless you have a health issue, and most don't, it's really that simple.

are you counting calories? if so, how accurately - do you weigh portions?

Sorry for all of your misfortunes. Are you alternating your calorie intake? Whenever you are trying lose weight you have to keep your body guessing by not staying at the same calorie intake for to long. For example you could intake 1200 calories for 3 days and on the fourth day consume 1400 calories to keep your metabolism high and burning fat. Otherwise you will hit a plateu. Bump up your calorie intake every 4 days.

Agree with the above poster. I think I'm plateauing this week as the scale hasn't moved with my current calorie deficeit and exercise routine. I'm going to try and eat at least my BMR for a few days and see what happens. I've been eating around 1500 (+/- 100) calories daily for that last 4 months and I think my metabolism may be slowing due to the low calorie intake.
