I need a new goal!

Hi all,

what made me start on here was the fact that I looked forward to a possible holiday next summer: a holiday with a skinny fit family at a beach. I wanted to go with them, and of course not look like a whale when sunbathing ;-)

Over this weekend, I got to know that this family propably changed plans and chose a different place for their holidays :-(

This makes me feel like I don't have a goal anymore for which it is worth working. This and the fact that I didn't loose very much last week although I thought I hadn't done that bad. I've had worse weeks with better weight loss before......

This is the first time I actually feel down about my weight loss and I hope things and thoughts will be better after my swimming tonight.

    Do you feel any better about yourself (and I don't mean appearance wise, but more like energy wise) since you lost the 6kgs?

    My goal is to have more energy and to feel better and to be in a good mood - and so far, with eating healthier and less junk and exercising some it is actually working!!!

    Looking skinny next to some family isn't a lifestyle changing goal anyway, right?

    I think you should vow to FEEL GREAT and ENRGETIC every day for the rest of your life!!!

    BTW - Are you still going on that vacation?

    I realize that most of us come to MFP originally to lose weight. My focus has changed to fitness and how I feel. The weight loss has been secondary. I would suggest a physical goal that you can accopmlish on your own.

    Look into signing up for a 5K. Then figure out a plan to get there. C25K (couch to 5K) worked great for me. It's 9 weeks of training to get you from sitting on the couch to running 30 min. I run slow and last year couldn't do 5K in the 30 min but kept adding 3 min a week until I could. I ran 2 5Ks last spring. Then I looked for my next challenge and signed up for a 10k. By then the running bug had me and I completeted a 1/2 marathon last month. I trained running 14 to 15 min miles but at least it was exercise.

    Nov 1st, I started P90X. Completing it is my next goal.

    Make your goal something that appeals to you - learning to rock climb, biking from point a to point b, learning to Zumba, etc.

    I'm in several groups on MFP that have helped. My two favorite are 40+ women (for age support) and 200+ (for weight support). Find or create some that will give you the support you need. Good luck.

    @stella:
    The vacation won't take place I guess, as I'm not very keen on going on holidays all by myself. This would have been a good occasion to go where I want to and not be alone... I know it's not a lifestyle changing goal, but it did help!

    The only difference about SW and CW I feel is the fact that my back isn't hurting anymore. I've always been a quite healthy person with no diabetes, no cholesterol and no high blood pressure, so there's not much to change about this. I only do need to lower my heart rate, which is quite high, but it hasn't changed at all so far.

    So I can't really rely on those changings to keep me going on....

    @Victoria:
    Running is actually something I would run away from ;-) I really don't like it at all and it wouldn't be a good goal for me. Thumbs up for you though for your accomplishments!!!!!! P90X or similar would be something I'd like to do.... guess I need to bug hubby a bit more about making room for it.

    Actually I guess I only need to get out of this bad mood/self pity.....
