Brown is a good rice (whole grain, slower absorption, less insulin spike, etc), but you might try quinoa sometimes for a change-up. I've been cooking it in my rice cooker and have decided I love it lol. It is a complete protein and one of the oldest grains. It really goes well with add-ins (olive oil, mushrooms, etc.).

    All rices are healthy.

It boils down to personal preference and what recipes you want to make.

You wouldn't use a brown basmati for a rissoto

You wouldn't use a Aborio to make a Nasi Goreng.

Get your mind right about "good" and "bad" foods. They don't exist. The total macro and micro-nutrient balance of your diet is what's important.

Basmati is a good substitute for jasmine rice. Basmati is low GI and requires more water to cook. I rather eat basmati than brown rice, can't stand the grainy taste.
