In-N-Out burger. Both Vegas and SF will have 'em.
Definitely this.
Also in Vegas, one of the big buffets (like Bellagio) should be a must try.
Ironically, I was going to suggest avoiding the big buffets. I have friends who live in Las Vegas. All I've heard about the buffets is that they are horribly overpriced and severely lacking in quality.
In San Francisco, definitely go around Fisherman's wharf and check out the food shops there. It's been 2 decades since I've been, but there was this great shop on the wharf that sold all sorts of seafood. The clam chowder (in bread bowls) was amazing.0
