Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it's always your choice.

It's about moderation not deprivation. There are no good/bad foods, only bad eating habits. Do or do not, there is no try. You have to want it, you have to work for it, you have to realize that only you can do it.

Also, use the 80/20 Rule. Make good, nutritional food choices 80% of the time. The other 20% is life, birthday parties, BBQ's and holidays.
Ask if what you are doing is sustainable. Will you be able to follow your plan indefinitely? Because if you aren't willing to make the change last for the next 10-20 years, you probably won't be able to stick to your "diet" for the time required to lose the weight.
BTW, 16 months ago, I weighed 232lbs. I currently weigh 179lbs, on my way to 140-ish. I have found that determination, discipline, commitment, persistence, patience and a good sense of humor are necessary for my lasting success.0 -
Good Luck on your Journey0

Feel free to add me. My goal is to lose 100+ pounds. My diary is open. I have good days and bad days. Good luck!0

All great info, folks. I especially like the 80/20 rule mentioned. We are human and not meant to eat bark and sticks and berries everyday. If you eat junk food, balance it out and meet your daily intake number and other more nutritious stuff. If I feel like a donut, I have it with some pure OJ and skim milk. If I have a slice of pizza, I eat a spinach salad. You will never catch me eating rice cakes and carrot sticks solely for lunch. Now you should eliminate some things like trans fats, but if you do have them, make sure it is a low number. And I would not advise any gimmicky fad diets like "Eat ice cream all day, every day" or "Eat fat, marbled meat by the truckload and one pickle every day" or "Just take these pills and fill up on everything you see". Not normal, folks. Scary stuff.0
