Left knee bothers me while working out

Alright so my left knee has been really annoying. It's just so prone to being hurt. Now I'm not a heavy person (128lbs 5'4) but most of the times it hurts to run, or do squats or anything that puts a little bit of pressure on my knee. Like even crossing my legs for too long makes it hurt. I need help as to what to do to make it less painful or at least give my knee some support. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

That pain is an indication that something is wrong. See a Dr. and have it checked. There are braces specifically made for support, but you risk making things worse if something is wrong and you are working through the pain.

I would recommend doing some quadricep stretching, holding for at least 30 seconds 3 times every day. You may need to do hip strengthening, such as clamshells or sidelying leg raises.

You should consider seeing a physical therapist. They can help you determine the cause of your knee pain, make sure you are performing those painful exercises correctly, and help correct any muscular imbalances you might have.

Your knee is telling you to eat more than 400 calories a day.

This, really. When I don't eat enough, I get more injuries, need more recovery time, feel more pain, and have "bad" workouts.

    Overtraining + undereating is a b*tch.

Fuel yourself properly before your body starts to shed bone mass, muscle mass and connective tissue and things get progressively worse.

Also, see a doctor. You are heading down a dark path...

Great points so far, especially about eating...

But as I've had problems with my knee as well - buy yourself knee-gloves - they will not 'heal' the problem but might ease up the pain a little. Also a great set of exercises for strengthening your knee supporting muscles is this one http://exercise.about.com/library/blkneepainexercises.htm

    But seriously... nutrition comes first...
