How do you get your protein

I'm having trouble getting my protein intake as high as MFP suggests and I'd like to get it higher, up to about 140 grams a day without going over my calorie allowance of 1540 per day. So what are the best high protein foods to eat, I don't want to resort to protein bars if possible.

Hi there!
My calories are set to 1500 right now, and as of 1pm today, I already got 70g of protein in: breakfast 1 cup non-fat plain Greek yogurt, 1/2 scoop protein powder, 4oz fresh blueberries = 34 g/protein, post-workout 1 1/2 scoop protein shake, 1 cup light soy milk =36 g/ protein. Half way there for today....
There is going to be chicken, eggs, and some cheese on the menu today. The trick is, look for low calorie/high protein basic food, and then add on the rest in moderation to fill your calorie allowance or macros. If in doubt, a large tub of vanilla protein powder can be mixed in with just about any flavor yogurt, hot breakfast cereal, or modifed-to-healthy cakes and breads.
I'm trying to stay away from protein bars now, because they wreck my calorie count, just with sugar and fat in there...0 -

On a fairly low calorie limit, I'll always try and get it in with lean meats to start with.
Also consider protein powder, which tends to be cheaper - but if you can afford it, lean meats added to normal meals.0 -
A bag of beef jerky has like 24g of protein and 240 calories.. very good on the go.
Greek yogurt has around 16g for a 6oz tub, good bang for your buck.
Personally I usually hit my goal with lots of chicken and use protein shakes to make up the deficit.0 -

I have a protein powder I mix with some soy milk every day. I also get protein from tofu, peas, quinoa, low fat cottage cheese, eggs, fat free feta or other low-fat cheeses, peanut butter, the bread I use, edemame, cashews, greek yogurt occasionally, misc. veggies throughout the day... Lots of places!0

Get most of mine from chicken and turkey. One large chicken breast usually does it.
And I love smoked salmon so I have that with scramble made from only egg whites and a little bit of spring onion.0
