Hi everyone !
I'm going to Sweden next week ! Is there anyone from sweden on MFP, or anyone who's been to Sweden?
What's the food like? Do you have any tips for healthy snacks that i can buy in the supermarkets while on vacation? What are the biggest supermarkets in Sweden? :)

Thanks ^.^

How fun! I'm from Sweden, but I've been in the US for so long that I might have forgotten or not know how things work now... But I think ICA and Coop still are the biggest grocery stores, and they definitely have a lot of healthy snacks since a lot of Swedes are pretty health conscious. You should be able to find a lot of organic fruit and veggies in "snack packs," but one thing that I have a hard time with when I go back is that the only Greek yogurt they have is like 10% fat...

Where in Sweden will you be? Most cities are extremely walkable, so take advantage of that! You'll need the extra calories in your budget for the amazing Swedish candy... :)

    Have a great vacation!!

Good for you!!! I am from Sweden! I have not lived there in over 20 years but i do go back to visit. Traditional swedish cuisine is fairly healthy, lots of protein from seafood, poultry and beef. Most grocery stores have a nice selection of local produce, cheese( selection is huge and tasty) and swedish yogurt and cottage cheese which comes in many different flavors.
I hope you have a great time!!!

I am sooo jealous! My great grandparents were from Sweden and I have always wanted to visit there so badly. I'm sure you will have no problem finding healthy foods and snacks there. Have an awesome time and don't worry too much about what you're eating :)

I used to live in Denmark and took a ferry over to malmo maybe once or twice. Scandinavia is big on fish and local produce. If you're getting smørrebrød (open faced sandwiches on rye bread) just tell them no butter on your bread and avoid the bleu cheese cause it's quite fatty as well. Frikadeller are the swedish/danish/scandinavian meatballs they are kind of fatty but if you get them with lingonberry sauce and stick to lighter sides with it I think you could make it work.

Also just get a pølser on the street from a pølsevogn. I don't know how healthy they are but I miss those so much.
