 Ok I am in heaven! I stumbled across a brand called "Slowcooker Gourmet" at Winn Dixie yesterday. They make 10 different dinner starter kits (some ingredients such as beans and all spices- REAL spices like bay leaves, etc. are included) and you just add meat (such as turkey sausage & chicken breast, etc and specified fresh vegetables- it actually calls for healthy meats or most of them you can make as is for a vegetarian option).
The best part- besides being able to make them in your crockpot is that they are all SALT FREE and WHEAT FREE! Woot! Triple bonus for this family b/c sodium is my enemy and I have a child allergic to wheat!
Here are the flavors/kits they have: American Pioneer 21 Bean Soup, Hudson River Valley Split Pea Soup, Indiana Farmstand Chicken Corn Chowder, Lewis and Clark Lentil & Sausage Stew, Memphis Blues Pork Chop Dinner, Minnesota Lake Country Chicken & Wild Rice Soup, NY Italian Deli Bean Soup, Santa Fe Chipotle Southwest Bean Bake, Sunday at Grandma's Pot Roast Stew, and Texas Panhandle Chuckwagon Chili.
The parent company is purelyamerican and you can view nutrition info and even order from their site. We are having the 21 bean soup tonight and it already smells so good!
I am going to try the chili next and will report on it... I cannot believe I have found a salt free chili kit... I've found "lower sodium" but never salt free... I will report back if it is worth a hoot or if you've tried it please let me know!
