Weights incorporated with Cardio and Low calories

Guys/Gals.

I have been on a new regime now for the last 10 days.

I do 20-30 mins of cardio everyday followed by a 30 min period of weight training which will usually consist of a mix of...
3 sets of 15 reps 50kg squats
3 sets of 15 reps 27kg Lat pull downs
3 x 15 26kg Chest Press
3 x 15 15kg Barbell curls
3 x 15 27kg Shoulder press
3 x 15 27kg tricep pull down

I am eating around 1500 cals per day.

My goal is to lose the fat that currently surrounds my body.

I lost over 100lbs over 15 months and then had a meltdown and put about 20lbs back on before starting this new regime.

Is this going to work or should I be doing different things.

Any help appreciated.

    Hey!

You did a good job so far! 10 days isn't enough to see how your program is working. Give it some more time. IMO, As long as you are still losing weight and feel comfortable, you're good.
When you feel ready to step up your weight training, you might want to use a shorter cardio session and some dynamic stretching as warm-up. This way, you won't start lifting with tired muscles. As you keep losing weight, your energy level should increase, too, and you can always add a cardio session after lifting (e.g. 30 min steady state on a stationary bike, or brisk incline walk on the treadmill or outdoors..), or schedule some high intensity interval training on a different day. Don't rush yourself, though, and make sure that you don't injure yourself on the way. As you have already figured out, there is no fast track to your goal.
I looked at a few days of your food log, and you're doing very well there, too. You seem to be eating some of your exercise calories back, and you are not starving yourself.

Good luck, train safe and have fun!
  • Thanks for coming back to me.

    So just keep going basically

I lost 6lb in the last 7 days so the sudden change back to the workouts and good eating seems to have worked.

    You're welcome!

Wow, you're losing well! Remember to keep an eye your calorie allowance along the way. At this point, 1500 are definitely low enough, and if you can manage, you can stick with it until you reach your goal. As you are eating some exercise calories back, you shouldn't be in any danger of getting too low. Check on your vitamins and minerals, though. Regardless of recent 'expert' criticism in the news, I like to cover my bases with a good multi vitamin in the morning, and then add food... Best to ask a doctor and have some blood work done. You have quite a journey still ahead of you, and you don't want to get in trouble on the way.
The pounds won't be dropping quite as dramatically later on, don't get discouraged, though. The process will still work, but your body will adapt. It doesn't mean that you're doing anything wrong. So be prepared to give your metabolism the occasional nudge by changing your workout routine around a bit.
You will probably find out, that you won't be burning as many calories for the same workouts, as you are losing weight. That's also normal. Don't beat yourself up over it, you're just getting fitter, right.... The difference will be made up, anyway, because you won't get to eat back as many calories.
Moderate, safe, and steady is the way to go, as you have found out already. That gives all of you, inside and out, the opportunity to shrink back into a smaller frame and stay that way!

    Keep going! :flowerforyou:
  • I have started taking a multi vitamin daily once I spotted my vitamins were low on my diary.

All advice is taken on board. Thanks

What was your regime like before the meltdown? Was it similar?
  • It was good but not as good as now.

I wasnt weight training and I wasnt anywhere as near as strict with my food.

    I lost around 106lbs before I gained 20 back.

    Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy? :)
