Weight loss is about calories in/out. One could lose weight without exercise. Get your diet straight (correct macros, micros) and eat in moderate calorie deficit and you'll lose weight.

Check out nerd fitness. There are a couple of body weight routines that you can easily augment with a couple of 15 and 20 pound dumbbells.

I have also heard good things about 'You Are Your Own Gym", though I haven't bought the book or really looked into it much - I've just heard it referenced a lot.

This should be your first step: Nail diet.

You should view training as being towards an objective: for fitness and health, for example. Or for pure strength. Or for endurance. Or for speed. You get the picture... pick an objective and see what fits with your current equipment on hand.
