Fat Smash Diet

I just started this diet that has been out for a few years maybe even longer than a few. Anyway it's called Dr. Ian K. Smith's Fat Smash Diet. I basically have to go through detox for the first 9 days - basically becoming a vegetarian. I did this before about a year or two ago and I only made it to day 7 before I crumbled. After the 9 days are up it's re-introducing meats again, but a healthier version such as broiled, grilled, baked, or boiled absolutely no fried foods. Now it's also re-introducing a small amount of club soda, but for me that will be my downfall as I'm addicted to caffeine. I love sodas! So right now I've been off of them for the past two or three days and already today I had a migraine, but I was prepared I took two Excedrin Extra Strength with caffeine to help and it did! Thank God!
My question is has anyone heard or done this diet before? Did you see any results? Did it make you feel terrible, better?
Oh and another thing it does have me eating at least five to six times a day and I am not a breakfast person but today I had a non-fat yogurt in the morning and right after my stomach started hurting really bad. Any non-breakfast eaters ever experience this? I don't know it felt like my stomach was in shock that I actually put something in it before 8am and just protested against it. LOL Well anyway just thought I'd put this out there for some feedback. Thanks.

Why would you purposefully do something you failed at before? You don't have to detox your body of anything and you don't have to go on some crazy diet. You don't have to eat breakfast if you don't want to and you don't have to eat 6 meals a day unless you have medical reasons to maintain stable blood sugar. Eat what you like, reduce portion sizes, have treats, see success.

I remember Dr. Ian from "Celebrity Fit Club." Weight loss takes trial & error to find what works for you. For me, diets don't work. But the advice in the Sexypants post did: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-Sexypants
Eat "healthy" (whatever that means to you) 80% of the time. Fit yummy, portion-controlled treats into your calorie goal. Deprivation can lead to bingeing.
Log everything you eat & drink accurately & honestly. Logging works.0 -
I have never heard of it...
There is only one real true diet. Calories in calories out. Eat less move more. Simple...
You have said you are struggling already and thats because its not a normal diet.
Take a look at this. Its what you need to get you started.

I started the "fat smash diet" yesterday, so I am on day 2 of the detox phase. So far it has not been bad at all. Good Luck to you. For those of you who don't know what the 'fat smash diet" is...here is a quick summary.
Step 1.Eliminate meat, poultry, seafood, cheese, nuts, all types of fried or fast foods, products that contain refined sugar and bread from your meals during the nine days of Phase 1. Avoid alcohol, regular soda and caffeine, including coffee and black tea.
Step 2 Plan on having four to five meals each day. Arrange your schedule so that you eat a meal every three to four hours.
Step 3 Eat any amount and any type of fruits or vegetables at your meals as you want, with the exception of avocados and red or white potatoes. Consume the produce raw, lightly steamed or lightly grilled with up to 2 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil per day.
Step 4 Obtain your daily protein from your choice of low- or nonfat yogurt, milk and soy milk; cooked beans and legumes; up to four egg whites; tofu; or up to 2 tablespoons of sesame seed paste. Combine high-protein foods with 2 cups of cooked brown rice and 1 cup of cooked grits, farina, cream of wheat or oatmeal on each day of the detox phase.
Step 5 Drink water and 2 cups of herbal or green tea every day. Have 1 cup of freshly prepared vegetable or fruit juice daily.
Step 6 Limit your condiments to herbs and spices, no more than two pickles a day and up to 3 tablespoons of low-fat dressing daily. Use 2 tablespoons a day of artificial sweetener, if desired
Step 7 Snack on air-popped popcorn, if you wish. Avoid using margarine or butter on the popcorn.
Step 8 Engage in 30 minutes of aerobic exercise for at least five of the nine detox phase days. Take a 20- to 25-minute walk after eating your evening meal.0 -

All this does is reduce your calorie intake through restriction and remove things that could cause water retention or bloating. There is absolutely no need to do a crazy diet or be very restrictive. Check out the link posted above, it has solid information.0 -
Honestly, the best diet is the one that isn't going to make you crazy with a bazillion steps. Check out this link, it's really helpful. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-Sexypants This one is linked in there, but I want to point it out, because it was a lifesaver for me. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/925464-fitting-it-in-giggity0

Listen to this woman. Look at her sick shoulders! She obviously has the right answer. I agree with all you said, Marine especially your opening line.
Stop with the magic bean diets and just watch your calories and move your body. Gosh!0 -
It all seems too complicated it makes my brain ache.
I eat at a deficit (anything I like) and lift heavy things up occasionally <shrugs> smples :happy:0 -
Oh yeah.. I did this diet years ago…. When I didn't know any better.
I got REALLY sick of nothing but beans and rice. It was dumb. It didn't change my body, or my lifestyle. It was temporary.
I suggest sticking to your calorie goal, and eating the foods you love. Its much more sustainable, and its something you can do in the LONG TERM.0 -
Okay here is a better link to explain "fat smash diet". Just because it has the word 'diet" in it doesn't mean it is bad. Everybody needs to find what works for them. 3 days into the Detox (phase 1) I am down 3.6 lbs, yes I understand it is because of calorie restriction and mostly water weight loss.

I am just curious to how long it lasted this time. I start phase II in 3 days. I detoxed so I would stop craving sweets and it worked.0

I am also curious as to how well you did on the program also.0
