i've been on MFP since January and am down to my last 5 pounds. I got a couple of pounds away in June and then got lazy and bored and stopped paying attention. I keep gaining and losing the same two or three pounds over and over.

Anyone else have trouble when they get close to the maintenance phase?

Karin -I just wanted to say HEEEEYYYYYY! :) Congratulations for getting so close to your goal....:flowerforyou: So, really, just 2-3 more to go? What about deciding on a "range" within 2-3 pounds of a happy weight, and consider that you're at the top of your range? (Being creative here.)

Yes! I haven't lost a pound in forever... I feel like it takes a lot more effort now to even lose one, and my scale keeps going back and forth between the same three pounds. I am so frustrated, although I know that if I do more cardio, I can probably jump start the weight loss again. It doesn't help though when the day after I do a lot of cardio I've gained a pound or two. Ten pounds ago I could go over 200 calories a few days a week and still lose. That's definitely not happening now.

Ugh. In other words, I need some motivation! I would love to participate in a group where we can motivate each other!

Hey Smiles!! It's so good to know you're still around. Your picture looks fantastic. How's the running going? Yes, a 2-3 pound range is an excellent idea, so I'm actually only 2 pounds away from that.

Rthompson, I so agree. I'd like to start a group for last 10 pounders, because i think this stage requires some different strategies. For instance, I wonder if I should have the goal of maintaining a particular weight for two weeks, then the goal of a 1 pound weight loss over two weeks, etc. In other words moving more into maintenance. I think it's going to require more patience because there won't be the high of seeing the scale drop.

And maybe moving to measurements rather than the scale would be motivating. I don't know, I've never measured so I don't know how quickly those numbers change.

And then my third thought is to have goals about fibre or sugar or fat intake, instead of focusing so much on calories.

I'd love any other ideas anyone has.

Yes, i got really stuck with the last 2 lbs. I think my motivation was waining and I kept loosing and gaining them over and over. Until I got a stomach bug that is, which wipped them and and another 2 off my chart lol. I wouldn't recommend that as a way to reach your goal though, it wasn''t fun even if it was effective!

Well, I think I'll try a different way than the stomach bug! The idea of upping the cardio makes sense, so I pulled out my mini-trampoline and am going to try doing that every day - I haven't seen it for a while so it's a novelty again.

I have no idea how to start a group, but I'm on board. :)

To start, my goal is to do two days of "intense" cardio in the next three days. I think I will do a work out video tomorrow morning, and ride my bike to work and home on Friday. (There, I wrote it down, so I'm more accountable now!) If I don't get the video done tomorrow, it will happen on Saturday.

I'm having a really hard time getting workouts in this week - just back from traveling too, so I have no sense of routine. I have cut out wine with dinner and yesterday met my fibre goal for the first time. I try to weigh every day or every other day to make sure I'm on track and I think I'm down a half pound since the beginning of the week. I'd sure love to knock out two pounds for the month of November. But then there's THANKSGIVING!!!
