Just starting out, getting mood swings?

I started logging my calories officially a little over a week ago, and have since noticed that I am getting really emotional. (No it isn't my TOM).

Today it hit a peak of what felt to me like it was absolutely pathetic. I had saved enough calories to eat some of the frozen pizza I purchased with my hubby yesterday, and it turned out that he ate it all while I was at work.

I guess I'd had my heart set on that pizza, I started sobbing uncontrollably and didn't want to eat anything else except the pizza that I couldn't have.

Is this normal? Normally I don't do things like that, and pizza isn't worth crying over.

What have you set your calorie goal too? It may help if you opened your diary.

I just opened it, I have my calories set to 1320, but I usually consider it fine that I can go up to 1600 in a day.

Yesterday you only ate around 1100 cals. I think this would make me cry too. You don't need to eat so little to lose weight.

Oh, I am actually still logging for what you call yesterday. I work swing shift so my dinner is usually at 1AM, I will be logging a few more before completing that entry. (Ah yes, lovely weird night shift schedules). Just added the potatoes and eating the rest of my dinner now, I just for some reason got really emotional about not being able to eat pizza with my dinner calories (had about 650 calories for it).

(Also I am not pregnant either.)

How is your sleep pattern? Working shifts can obviously be detrimental to this, so if you aren't sleeping well then this could account for your moods.

I fairly consistently get about 7 hours of sleep a night. Go to bed between 3 and 4 AM, wake up between 10 and 11AM. I dunno, maybe its jsut random mood swings.

food is emotional. saying goodbye to food that isnt really good for you is even more emotional . sometimes we eat on emotion too .. i have found that i am finding new pleasures to look forward to like working out or doing something other than eating. for me its tough because most the work i do is revolved around meetings at restaurants or going to events where there is more food. i get more pleasure now because i beat my time on the treadmill more than having pleasure of eating an ice cream sundae or a sub sandwich .. its liberating to let go of that emotional attachment to that kind of food

Maybe - see if they settle down over the next couple of weeks after your body has had a chance to get used to a lower calorie intake.
