I broke my ankle :(

It never fails... I start getting back into good workout habits and I end up injuring myself.
I broke my right ankle misstepping off the driveway. I broke the outer bone and pulled a bunch of tendons or something.
This sucks and I demand pity.

I didn't get any pity from you when I broke my ankle about 20 years ago, so suck it up!

Been there done that and it sucks. Right or left foot? I broke my right and wasn't able to drive which makes it 100X worse. Do physical therapy, my dr didn't have me do it and I am just getting back into running now after 7 months.

Aw, poor you. There, happy?! ;)

I agree with getting PT as soon as you can. I severely sprained my ankle about 8 years ago and they claimed that even though I almost tweaked it to the point of needing pins, I'd still likely be healed up in the typical 12 weeks. Eight weeks later, I was still in considerable pain so I went back to the ortho doc but they were no help - just wanted to give me more pain meds. So I went to a chiro who also did some sports med/PT stuff and he worked wonders on that ankle. To give you an idea how bad it was, it still swells when it's super hot and humid out. Crazy...

    Thanks for the pity.
Yeah, right ankle which means I can't drive either.
My wife is now saying that my Jeep is "hers".

    Ouch!
I would say the wife taking over the Jeep would be way worse than the broken ankle!

...I'm sorry about both. I hope it heals quickly & without problems!

No pity for you! Drive on little buddy, drive on! In pity lies weakness and the path to evil ways!

Know where you are coming from, work around it. Oh and have the wife take you out four wheeling :-)

I'll give you real pity. That does stink. It's exactly why I opted out of a skydiving outing recently--I didn't want to hurt my foot on the landing and keep myself out of the gym in exchange for just a few moments of a rush. ...but of course, things can happen in one's own driveway too!

You have my sympathy. When I broke my foot 5 years ago, I gained 20 lbs. and became such a b
that my family was planning to euthanize me. I was in a walking cast for 3 months. I actually made out a living will saying that I didn't want to be resuscitated if I had a condition that involved any disability where my mobility was impaired.

All I can say is adjust your calorie intake to account for reduced activity level, and keep up upper body and ab work. I did the latter with my injury, but not the former, to my detriment.
