Need Placebo effect

So I am having some major issues losing any weight. The biggest contributor: I'm a slave to the Coors Light Beer Company. I love nothing more than to come home after work and crack a few cold ones in the evenings. It isn't for the 'alcohol' part, it is just that I love the taste of cold beer. It has become a habit. I honestly believe this is hampering my weight loss as I try to eat well and I exercise very regularly but the scale doesn't want to budge. Is there anything that would be in a can that would be mainly healthy or better for me to give me the placebo effect? I can't find anything good that comes in a can. Maybe there just isn't anything out there....

I don't need nasty messages about how I should just quit. It's a mind over matter thing like anything else. Replace the bad habit with a good one, so that's what I'm trying to do.

See if you can cut it down to just one instead of a couple. It is much easier to fit one can into your plan than a few. Research has shown that a beer a day has similar benefits to a glass of wine a day. The trick is to keep it to one.

Hmm...orange juice or a smoothie maybe? Although they can come in at the same amount of calories as a beer anyway.

I love infused waters - especially in the summer. Just make up a big jug of water and stick some strawberries, mint and lemon in it and refrigerate for an hour or two. Really tasty and essentially calorie free.

Or maybe, vodka and slimline tonic?!

Looking at your food diary your just eating more than you think. Cups instead of weights and generic database entries.

Have a look at this link. Tighten up your logging and you can the proceed from there. Good luck

What about adding some soda water to the beer? (We call it Shandy in the UK, but not sure about elsewhere in the world!)

Generally the amount you add is a matter of taste, but I usually aim for a roughly 50-50 mix of beer and soda water which means my beer lasts twice as long for the same number of calories!

I have one question for you:

What do you do when you're drinking the beers? Do you sit down in front of the tv? Do you ust hang out with friends? What is the habit you do when you're drinking those beers?

If it's something lazy and regular, instead of trying to stop drinking beer, why not change what you're doing to something active? go out for a walk, start a hobby. If you have a job, try some craftsmanship, or restore a car/motorcycle. Sure, with some of these activities, you can still have some beer, but if you're keeping your mind and body busy, you'll drink slower so you'll probably drink fewer beers. Also, if you're moving about, you'll be burning more calories than if you're sitting around on your butt.

I haven't found a replacement, I just limit it to the weekend.

I had to stop the routine of go home, grab a drink, do xyz.

I had to create a new routine.

OP is drinking Coors Light. If anything, that would make it stronger.

That's a good point, I guess I never thought about it that way. Usually I sit around. Bad choice to begin with! Maybe adding some more activities would make me feel better about it also. Plus like you said, keeping busy would slow it down also!

Thank you, I wondered that also. Need to figure out how to eat cleaner and enjoy it. I was never a lover of veggies etc. growing up. They are very slowly growing on me, but I still have a lot to learn. Learning to prepare healthier meals from scratch would definitely be a benefit also. Eating crap and prepared foods from a box is just way too convenient.

I second the Shandy advice (and yes, there are such a thing in the US - although my friend that introduced them to me works with folks in the UK so maybe that's why we call them by the same name?). We have large plastic cups at home so I empty a bottle of beer which fills it about 2/3rds then fill the rest with Diet Sierra Mist. How does that solve your problem? Well, one would be plenty if you sip it nice and slow. Use a light beer to save calories.

Another thought - something I do at parties to save calories. For every drink, have a big glass of water. At some point your belly gets pretty full from all the liquid so you'll at least slow down drinking if not stop altogether for the night.

I would say... instead of having two, have one - and make it special by putting it in a frosted mug :)
Leave room in your calorie goal for the one drink! So maybe that means eating a smaller lunch. Or going for morning runs.

    Edit: Spelling.

I like to make Michiladas with Coors Light. I fill a glass with ice and a half of beer and then put Zing Zang on top of it. They are good in the summer. You could probably use light V8. It stretches the beer and refreshing.
