The pouch where you keep your extra cookies?

Hey MFP, just out of curiosity, I was wondering at about what time/weight you started to lose the belly overhang- you know that little spot where you keep your extra cookies? (At least that's what I call it.)

I am aware that you can't spot treat trouble areas and I'm totally okay with that, my question is how close were you to your ultimate goal when that spot started diminishing?

I'm currently down about 35/40 lbs from my heaviest and my tummy has been significantly reduced. I've got another 40ish to go so just trying to get an expectation of when the buddha belly will subside. Thanks!! :flowerforyou:

I'll let you know when mine does. It's the last holdout. People are telling me I'm too skinny now. I have to pull up my shirt and show them my gut to get them to shut up. Always entertaining at parties and family gatherings.

Not from personal experience, but I have read in quite a few places that it can be the last thing to go. The lower you get your body fat percentage, the more it finally diminishes. >.<

Everyone loses differently. My Legs are slower than the rest of my body to shrink.

I have always had one! Even during high school when at my lowest I was 5'5 and 107lbs. It never went away for me! However, I didn't excursive until after high school, so that could have something to do with it

It's been the last to go for me too. I keep reading things that say that women tend to lose in their legs last and men tend to lose in their abdomens last but for me it's definitely the abdominal fat that is sticking around. I'm a bit concerned that I'll end up with chicken legs before my tummy goes.

That will be the happy day when mine goes!!!! I was super happy when I noticed my back boobs going away - but the belly (I have a much worse word for it that I wont share in here lol) that will be my victory!!

I have the dreaded B belly shape. Fat roll above the waist and a separate fat roll below the waist that gets kinda drapey on those who are obese. The lower part is essentially gone, very flat now with hardly any loose skin. I have big hips but my side view is flat there and looks good in pants/jeans or even underwear. Unfortunately the upper fat roll is still present, just drastically diminished from how it used to be. I have some loose skin there and it looks gross with no shirt on still, but I'll still take the current bicycle tire size over the semi truck tire it once was ;-)

Also, I'm 37 and carried a huge amount of weight for over 20 years so there's hope for all (most)!! For reference I have gone from 307 to 178-ish and around 220 is when I started to notice the lower belly roll was almost gone, by 190 it was looking pretty good. I also had a ton of back fat which basically went away around 220.

I'm watching this as it's a topic near and dear to my heart. I had a c-section in March and now I have a little hang over. I'm running 3 times a week and lifting weights usually 3 times a week and the belly is shrinking but I suspect a bit of it will hang around for a while. Ugh.

this truly varies from person to person....after my first child (well really 2 years after my first child) i started hitting the gym....i lost all the baby weight and then some, i was actually buff....standing up my stomach looked great, but whenever i sat down or bent over there was still my mommy pooch. Now i'm 3 year years after my 2nd child and starting all over again. my tummy is significantly smaller then when i started but i already know for me at least there's no getting rid completely of my pooch. the most i can hope for is at least getting it back down to where i was when i was hitting the gym. i'd have to have surgery to get rid of it completely. and please don't lose hope based on my post, this is just me, again it varies from person to person. some people do lose it completely.

I just passed my goal today for the first time ever- and my roll is still there!!! I'm 118 today and don't need to lose more, but I don't know what else to do to get rid of it. I'm 30 something and the last time I was 118 I was probably 10. I'm just gonna keep fighting till it's gone. Glad to see it aint just me :-)
