Establishing A "Healthy Relationship" With Food

Hey everybody - it's my first day on this website :) I'm finally ready to make a significant change to my life

My childhood/middle school/high school life consisted of moving from country to country, and of being bullied for my appearance in each place. Food was my best friend, sometimes (most of the time) my only friend. This resulted in gaining lots of weight, multiple eating disorders + no knowledge whatsoever of moderation, etc.

How does one establish that? I am either too obsessed with food, or too repulsed by it. How does one establish a healthy relationship with food without falling back into old and very unhealthy habits?

I think the best thing for you to do is 1st remember your "why" for your reason towards getting healthy. That driving force of your why will help you establish a good relationship with food because you will be determined to eat the right things and the right amount in order to achieve that goal. If you have to place a note or picture on the fridge for a reminder of your why then do that! Another thing to do is just find healthy alternatives to the bad foods. Bake instead of deep fry, use yogurt instead of mayo, etc. I hope this helps.
