Confused about weight gain

Does anyone know how quickly you gain muscle when you lift weights?
I started lifting on July 1st. I lift every Monday and Wednesday for about one hour. Nothing too intense. But my weight has gone up one pound. I'm really concerned. I still eat 1200 calories a day, sometimes more if I am exercising. I run every Tuesday and Thursday for 2 to 3 miles.
I eat 120 grams of protein a day. My carbs are under 100. My sugar is never more than 50.
I am wondering if my weight gain is muscle. Or it could be bloating because of PMS. What do you all think? I hope it isn't fat.

more than likely bloating, either from TOM or from the added exercise in your routine. new exercise that your muscles arent used to will cause water retention. this will subside in a couple weeks0
