If any of it has any elastic or was designed for stretch you could be wearing it for 60 pounds or more. I had one skirt that I wore until it finally fell off me as I was coming down some stairs (thankfully not in public). It started out as a 3x with a snug waistband and 70 or so pounds later it became more of a hip band before I finally had to toss it. I loved that skirt. I still don't own a black skirt that nice. But it's okay, I'd rather not be able to wear it again!
You could always have it altered to fit if you really love it.0 -
If you're working out, keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat! If you're noticing change in your body then that may be the case.0

I was squeezing in a 14 even tho I started buying 16 since I realized I am fat. Loosing inches and my stretchy 12-14 pants are starting to be loose. I had a shelf on my bum-I say had because it is about gone.and the boobs (I am very okay with the boobs-I got to a 44-from a 36 for a long time.). So it takes time-ANd I am okay with what ever happens in it for the long run.0

I have lost 20lb and im similar I was wearing baggy 18s simply because I dont like tight clothes well those zre clown pants now and I can put them on without even undoing them however the 16s that I could have worn before the weight loss were snug and now fit nicely with some room so stick at it he more u lose the closer that smaller dress size will be0

Same here. I'm approaching the 20 lb weight loss mark and wearing the same things too. I also seem to wear much larger sizes than other women my same height and weight, though I'm muscular and not fluffy/flabby so you would expect me to be more compact. *shakes head* It's always been like this for me. When I tell ppl I wear a size 12/14 they don't believe me, but I do. BMI is currently 23.9 and I'm five foot three so... go figure? I don't know!!! It's frustrating!!!0

I've lost 33 lbs. I started right at 300 and am now down to 267. I started in a size 22 and I'm still in a size 22. It bothered me at first, but I know that there are lots of factors that go into my pants size. I know you've probably been told this a million times, but don't measure your success by your pants size or by what the scale says. How do you feel? Do you have more energy? If so, then feel good about that. For me, my success is that my blood pressure went down. That's probably not what you want to hear, because you want to physically see results, just like me! But, trust me. Just keep with it and feel proud of your NSV and the change in your clothing and your reflection will come.0

My clothes were so tight on me, I should have been in at least a size bigger when I started, so yes it took a while to drop a size, given I had to shrink back through the clothes I was wearing first!
Totally! I had to do my trousers up with a hairband a few weeks ago, they were so tight! I reckon I could easily lose a couple of stone and be in the same trousers, I'd just be able to do them up properly without injuring myself.0 -
Yes I have been dealing with the same thing, I can see the numbers going down on the scale but it looks like nothing else is changing. I think that maybe cause I am building muscle as a replacement....laugh:0

Give it some time. You're probably the kind of person that loses weight everywhere (face, arms, belly, legs) and it just isn't affecting your clothing sizes yet. Give it time. When the fat layer around places like your fingers and wrists and neck go down, maybe your belly and chest will be next.
This is me and I have the OP's same frustration. I did notice my fingers are a little skinnier and I lost one of my chins etc... but my clothes only fit marginably better. Also, I measured all the main areas and, though there has been some shrinkage it isn't too much. It is just all around. Oh well.

I'm pushing 50 pounds and still wearing all of the same clothes.. don't get me wrong.. they're more comfortable and i'm assuming i looked like a sausage in them before.. but still in the same. Stick with it!!0

It took a loss of 50lbs before I needed smaller clothes. Give it time.0

It all depends on where you lose the weight first. I'm still in the same size too after losing 16#... my pants are pretty loose but I haven't lost enough to go down to the next size yet.0

I'm right there with you. I've lost 27 pounds and still can't go down a size. I've tried going down a size in pants but they are so tight in the waist. But all my pants are soooo baggy in the butt and legs. I'm getting so tired of being called droopy drawers. LOL0

You should really do measurements. I've lost 6 inches on my waist! 6.... Inches *happy dance*!!!! And I'm still wearing the same pants. o.O
Don't give up. I suggest getting a measuring tape to help you stay motivated. Even when I don't see the scale going down I often see the inches dropping.0 -
Just don't give up I lost 35 lbs one time and because My size didn't change I gave up .SO Here I am The difference is Now I know even more and have a great support group here To keep me motivated. Just keep telling yourself you can do this0

Like everyone else who's commented - yes, it took my quite a while to reach the next size down. Partly I was squeezing into (UK)20's I had no business squeezing into, partly I lost from everywhere but my hips and bust to start with, so clothes still fitted the same at the widest points, although were getting rather baggy in other places. I'm still not massively in proportion (still got the enormous bum), but I'm finally in most (UK)14's.
If I were to put actual weight onto where the size changes occurred (difficult because different shops have different sizings, plus a dress fits very differently on me to trousers and tops), I'd say 35lb for 20-18, 20lb for 18-16, and another 15lb for 16-14. Also don't forget that plus sizes increase differently to smaller sizes - where there might only be 1 inch difference between a 6 and an 8 (2-4 US, I think), there's 2 inches difference between a size 20 and 22.0 -
I get this, expect it's been the opposite for me. I've stopped losing weight (even gained a couple pounds), but I've lost inches. O.O
Not fair, body. Not fair!

I'm reiterating a lot of what others have said...have patience, grasshopper. Really look at how things fit now and how they fit before, it's different and that's your progress. You are lucky to be losing evenly from all over your body. celebrate that!
I am in a similar position. I've lost about 20lbs in the last few months, but I'm mostly wearing the same things as before. My summer clothes consists mostly of dresses, skirts and flowy tops, so those are pretty easy to nip in with a belt, or some safety pins. My pants are all too big, but right now I'll get by.
You should try and get by as long as possible with the clothes you currently have, maybe buy one or two new things which can be modified as you shrink (wrap dresses and stretchy pants are great for this).

I was frustrated for a while but eventually realized I was just pulling the belt tighter. And yes, clothes do fit differently. Just as I didn't really put together how bad things had gotten after seeing virtually no difference day to day going up, its often easy to see it happening the other way. But when I pull out the before vid I'm ashamed and embarrassed I ever let things get to that point.0
