4 ft 10 and in dire need to lose weight

Hello everyone! I am a 4 ft 10, 270 pound, 36 year old female. I just started my journey a couple of days ago and am not sure how much I should be eating.
I try to get on the elliptical every other day for six to ten minutes (at a very slow pace, it's all I can do right now, even walking hurts too much) but I am trying to get to where I can do it every single day.
I want to lose 2 pounds a week, my goal weight is between 90-110 pounds. Myfitnesspal tells me to eat 1260 cals a day, is this correct?
Thank you so much for any help!

Sounds about right, I put your numbers into scoobys calculator (http://scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/) and got something similar.
Keep up the good work, everyone has to start somewhere

Get a food scale from walmart, weigh and measure everything and log it staying within your calorie budget.
And you can afford to lose more then 2 pounds a week.
It is that simple.0 -
Given your height, that does sound about right. Make sure you log your exercise and plan to eat back at least half of the earned calories (MFP and machine numbers tend to be overestimates).
Supertact - bad name for you my friend - you have no tact. Sure she could lose more and she may even lose more than 2 pounds per week at first given most of us do with water weight and all. You don't know her history, her lifestyle, any medical conditions, etc. It's pretty rude to make that kind of assumption and put more pressure on than needed.0 -
Thank you very much everyone, I will stick with this! I appreciate the honesty and guidance. :bigsmile:0

It sounds right to me. I'm 5'2", started out 190 lbs with 1200 calories (doesn't everyone?.. I learned with time, though), then upped it gradually (now at 1350, but likely to go up again soon as I'm approaching my target).
Maybe give it a go and see what happens over 3-4 weeks, then adjust it.
Also, I didn't do any exercise for the first 3-4 months of weight loss. It was winter and I was lazy. I still lost weight no problem.0 -
Those numbers sound about right. I'm 5'0" -- so pretty close in height.
Hooray to you for working out so regularly. In the beginning, I could only walk my dog around the block before becoming winded-- it does get better! Now, I go to the gym nearly daily. (I do still walk the dog! )
Kudos to you for making healthy choices for yourself!0 -
I think you're on the right track!
I'm 4'8 and eating about 1450 calories. However, I do some pretty intense workouts three times a week and get some cardio/hiking in on off days when i have the time (which isn't often).0
