Never too old

Hi, I'm new to this site but not new to weight loss. I've struggled with my weight all my life. 10 years ago I thought I had dieted for the last time and had maintained a healthy weight for over 2 years. Then I had a stroke, shortly thereafter was involved in a car/pedestrian accident (I was the pedestrian) and I gained weight...again. I had reached 180 lbs and decided to quit smoking (probably should have sooner...lol) and more weight piled on till I reached close to 220 lbs. This was the first time in my life I weighed over 200. I was mortified. I went on countless diets and got down to 190 lbs several times but plateaued and no matter what I did could not get lower so being in my mid fifties I decided I was done dieting and I'd just be fat.
Well that didn't last too long as I'm not happy overweight, so I'm back at it. I have cut out all soda(they went along time ago) and most processed foods and have stated exercising regularly. I have lost approx 20 lbs since taking this new lifestyle seriously (about 2 months ago). I am hoping to run my first 5K at the age of 57 in September (if my knee cooperates, had a few weeks down time on training) so we will see how it goes.
