Hello everyone!! Found this sight after I had my first taste of what the Veteran's Administration had to offer. I attended the VA's MOVE!! Weight Management for Veteran's program introduction class this week. They gave me some good information to take in, some online resources to look into, the opportunity to progress with more classes next month and then sent me off on my own, which brings me here.

I am 49 yrs old, 6ft tall and my BMI falls into the obese category. With my former military life ( which ended in 2004) I wasn't allowed to be "overweight". Weigh-in's were at least yearly...more if your weight was not were they want it. We had yearly PT tests to pass so that we weren't out of shape. I usually was around 195-205 towards the last few years of that life and was within limits (they took into account age, body density and other things like being able to pass a PT test).

Fast forward 10yrs and I'm 80+ lbs over what I weighed before I retired. Long story short. I'm here to see if I can get information and learn what I need to do in my pursuit of my former weight. I've set my goal weight at 200 (for now) and I'm hoping I can get there. I plan to give myself a few personal rewards (not food) as I progress to that goal, but I have a big reward for myself IF I obtain that goal weight. It's something that's been on my bucket-list for awhile, but at my current weight I can't participate. I plan on jumping out of a perfectly good airplane and try my hand a skydiving.
