In need of motivational/supportive friends

Hi I'm new here and would really like some friends to chat with and help support me. I think it would make logging into this site more if I had a good support system.
I'm 23 years old about to turn 24 in August and have been struggling with my weight due to binge eating. I am trying to break this habit and hopefully get on a healthier path before this lifestyle takes complete control of me. I weigh 139lbs and recently it was up to 145. I gained so much weight by emotional eating and need some help in stopping this behavior. So I joined this site to help track what I eat and so far it has been good because it gives me more control over seeing what I am putting in my belly. Thank you for those who read but I understand if you aren't interested then that's ok. I'm going to keep trying with or without friends.

Hi there. I can definitely relate to your struggle. I tend to binge eat as well, particularly when I do not keep myself busy. I have been on maternity leave for the past 12 weeks, spending a lot of time sitting on the couch nursing my baby and watching tv... I want to get my body back! Like you, I am 145 pounds, hoping to lose AT LEAST 10 pounds, but ideally more. I could use some supportive friends here too, so I'll add you0

Hey sweetie, I am old enough to be your grandma but your post touched my heart. You are so young, how tall are you? How much weight are you wanting to lose? I know about bingeing and it is a monster to deal with daily and control. I hope you get all of the support you need, and if you need to talk to someone, you can talk to me. Hang in there little one, things will get better. dj:flowerforyou:0

@lovethebugs
My problem is actually the opposite. I feel I eat so much more when I'm at work and being busy I usually will stress out and eat two orders of chinese food in one sitting hiding away from all my co workers. You are so lucky to have a baby! I really want children but not in my current state, one of my motivations to bettering myself is to have kids who are healthy!
I am leaning towards short term goals myself, just 5lbs at a time so I don't overwhelm myself or be too hard on myself. Thank you so much for adding me as a friend.0 -
@djcangel
Thank you for your empathy, just reading your post made me feel not so alone in this world. I'm 5'4 and I'm planning on loosing about 5lb at a time. My goal weight is to be what I used to be before this whole mess started which is around 110-115. Its very hard to control! Sometimes you just want to give into your cravings so bad when you are feeling like poop. I don't even really like talking about it but I know I have to eventually.
I'll gladly add you as a friend, you seem very sweet and kind.0 -
I struggled a lot with over eating/emotional eating. I used to be 220 lbs at my heaviest, I am currently 180 lbs and my goal is to get down to 150 lbs (I’m 5’7”). I'd like to think that I have finally achieved a better relationship with food now than before my lifestyle change. But it took a lot of work and changing how I viewed not only food but myself. It’ll be hard but you can do it and you’ll feel so much better once you achieve your goals. It’s good that you’re setting small goals because that was my biggest problem when I first started (in 2009). I would get so discouraged because I set goals that weren’t realistic, but I’ve learned. Feel free to add me; I’d be willing to lend whatever support I can. Good luck!0

Hey Sweetie, I am 5' 4" too, I am big boned also, the least I can ever weigh is around 125, or I look like a p.o.w. You do need to learn to talk about it all, not just the battle of the bulge, but the things bothering you behind that. Youth can teach the old ones too, and I look forward to sharing your path to a happier, thinner you and a better thinner me. You stay in touch when you can little one, we are just beginning this journey. Peace, love and hugs. dj0

Hi!! I know what your going through... sometimes it seems impossible in the beginning. I'm starting at the beginning again after losing 50 lbs a couple years ago I put on 100 lbs. All my plans were put on hold. I'm engaged but don't want to get married in my current state, I'm having trouble finding jobs because being as big as I am they will think your unhealthy and thus a big risk. I just started MFP about 2 weeks ago and have lost 5 lbs from my starting weight. Anyway its good that you are recognizing this now and that you are ready to do something about it. It will be hard, you'll have really good days and really bad days but as long as you keep working towards a goal, you will get to where your going.0
