Okay just a thought.
3500 for each pound I want to lose.
about 42 lbs to lose
right now the tread mils and tables tell me I burn 200cal for each mile I run.
3500*42/200=753.

Unfortunately, the lighter you get, the less calories you burn per mile. :-(0

you're also assuming that everything you will be burning is fat.. which is not the case
but i do like the idea of somehow quantifying weight loss in a more tangible fitness goal.
you should try getting to 752 miles to see how accurate your estimation was0 -
That's not taking into account cardiovascular adaptation, calorie intake, hormonal factors (leptin, ghrelin, cortisol), muscle loss (which can be reduced through resistance training and adequate protein), plus a few more factors I can't think of at almost midnight.
Weight loss just isn't linear and there are lots of factors that go into it.0
