How should I get more of a caloric intake?

I eat until I can't eat anymore, and I'm still not hitting my calorie goal per day. I'm paleo and I eat a lot of lean meats and vegetables. I'm trying to lose weight, and I know that in order to do that, I need to eat enough calories for my body to burn and not go into starvation mode. I'm afraid that I might be doing that. How should I consume more calories?

    I'll be watching this. I can't seem to hit my calorie goal without consuming too much fat.

    I use MFP's protein & fiber goals as minimums, and ignore fat & carbs.

    Rest assured, with plenty of weight to lose you are not going to be starving anytime soon. Most people take a few weeks to adjust to a new diet as good food is often more filling than the junk we all used to eat. Since you are wanting to lose weight, I would not go to any heroic lengths to eat more food since your appetite will adjust quite naturally.
  • On the paleo.. you and all those paleo dieters in your shoes will need to think more 3 -D. Whats happening is while you are eating super clean while following the calorie counting glitch that calorie counting was founded upon..

    Calories counting restricts and professes guidelines which if you are on Paleo..while you are gradually upping food energy its the calories from the food that are well, being enzymed away.. Calories are unable to count enzyme activity... and a few other glitches that has created some serious slave to the process issues and a barbarian at the gate mindset as it relates to exercise

    Be that as it may, to get your Food energy value up and corresponding to the Paleo philosophy try to visualize your food in three parts and combine

    For instance on your whole food proteins dont just dine on turkey and just dont eat beef. Combine these whole food proteins according to your individualized portion size eat say 100 grams with 50g coming of turkey and 50g coming from beef..

    its the protein chains combined that will fill you..

    Also add and consume more stews, soups, borsches..even when I have a soup.. egg drop soup for example I will add an extra 1/4 cup of green peas and steep.. till they are soft..

    Utilize more grain combos.. Brown rice, Forbidden Rice with Bean sprouts.. or quick oats, Multi-grain flakes wheat germ..

    with Sandwiches bolster with avocados, Root vegetables and Hard white cheddar cheeses..vermont canadian varieties offer
    the density you need.

    The idea is not to eat so one dimensional ..if you do.. food energy stalls will occur..Training plateau, and lipolytic enzymes wont be as battle ready on your behalf.

    Lastly...This will sound crazy or at least contradictory..You may want to reconsider trying to eat this clean...


    With anyone of these diet patches to metabolism..what you have is a metabolism with no where to go.

    when in reality .hormones like.. fast food


    You want to use fast food to your advantage...I know people will be wanting to burn me at the stake but In my humble opinion fast foods serve a purpose and if you use that to your advantage

    It wont be so hard to drop unwanted body fat..

    your question is how to get more calories on Paleo.. i would add the meat (Not the bun so much) from a flamed broiled whopper or one of the other fast food joints..

    say up to 12% to 20% of the time..You will be surprisingly full and satisfied while loosing unwanted body as this will fan the flames of lipolytic enzymes like wild fire..


    Friend me.. . would not be a problem helping you find more 3 D ways to up your food energy..intake

    Starvation mode as to the common dieter is a myth. Starvation mode happens when you've lost a certain amount of body fat, weight, and muscle and have reached an emaciated state. Fat people and people with healthy weights do not experience starvation mode.

    Since it's important to eat the type of diet that you prefer, and for your it's paleo, then I'd simply choose some higher calorie foods that will keep you satiated. Are avacados, nuts, beans allowed in your diet plan?

    However, before you start adding calories, you need to make sure your logging is in order.

    How do you know how many calories your are consuming?

    Do you weigh your food, and also find the correct entries for said food?

    Do you log everything you eat?

    Do you log your exercise, and ensure that you are using correct estimations?

    Do you eat any portion of your exercise calories back?

    If you open your diary, people might be able to give concrete advice.
