So about 2 months ago I switched to maintenance mode and upped my calories. At that point I put a couple few pounds back on, and stayed that way for a couple of weeks. It wouldn't go back down. I was on vacation last week and gained 2 pounds in a week. To me is seems that the higher calories isn't working as I am gaining. :grumble: :grumble:

I have to admit I did stop doing my JM workouts. I thought my running would be enough but it obviously isn't.

I was at 1400 calories but went up to 1660. That's not working for me. I want to stay under 115 (I'm over that right now). To give you a little about myself, I'm 5 2.5 and am 35. I'm doing the C25K app right now to prepare for a 5K I am doing in September. The issue with going back down to 1400 calories, as most days that's not enough for me. I'd appreciate any any tips and or advice!

How much total weight gain are we talking about here?

You may get better advice from over in the maintenance subforum. The folks over there have BTDT and might be able to give you better advice.

It is my understanding that when you increase your calories to maintenance, there is generally a period of rebound water/glycogen weight gain that will come back off with time. Keep in mind that if you decreased your workouts AND increased your calories, you might be SLIGHTLY over maintenance, but I suspect it's mostly water weight.

Look up Hacker's Diet Online. He has a useful tool to look at your weight trends over time and tell if you are TRULY gaining weight, or if it's a normal fluctuation.

My advice would be to continue at 1660 if you are going to try to be training for a run.
