If you're going to present information, asking you to provide a link (or some other access) to it is a reasonable request. Making a statement that akin to "studies are out there that show [whatever]" isn't really helpful. If you're going to take a stance, it's generally considered appropriate to be able to support it directly. The onus is on you to support your position.
My original post was not about having to prove or justify anything to anyone, but simply to put in my own two cents of advice with everyone else's based on my own experiences and reading. Anyone interested can easily do a google look up to see if researchers/nutritionists consider all calories to be the same from a nutritional viewpoint.

In any case, I've now provided a reference so all those concerned should be satisfied and from now on I suppose I'll have to be extra careful about relaying my experiences or offering advice on these forums.

So all of this would be safe while ttc? I forgot to add that. My husband and I have been ttc and been wanting a baby for a while now.

It looks like your question got lost in the middle of this big debate. :) It would be safe, and actually much better if you lose weight if you're trying to conceive.

Go to the Getting Started page, there are a lot of good links there for basic ways to go about it. Good luck!
  • Your're 23years old. 5'11 and have amassed over 100 extra pounds..Oh I forgot you don't like vegetables...Weight watchers didnt work either... which is a points and calorie kissing cousin of one another..

While every one is giving you advice about the process, save one very informed voice, which by and large you already did. But now you more committed than ever.

Your boat is about to capsize..mainly because you have no new know how..there is no data to base where you went wrong from the time before or if the substantial weight gain is from a diminished food energy profile,a low lipolytic enzyme count, saturation or potency or over eating..

Calorie crusaders say you are an over eater, you stuff your self, you pig out and are just unhealthy..Just watch what you put in your pie hole.

If you want to use the dye hard method of calories to TRY to loose unwanted body fat and again try with all your will power to attempt to stick with it, Attempt to find this mysterious from down high discipline, attempt to, out from the outer reaches of the galaxy, tap a hierarchy of need that you your self have yet to put in lock step with progress..

Then here is my two cents. The fact that you don't like vegetables or a variety..is problematic..because this means you select, your decide, and you eat from 100% emotion which is in direct conflict with will power.. Calorie counting demands will power because its so very glitchy.

Once vege's are out of the equation..you will perhaps loose some weight but with 100% certainty you will plateau and get stuck.. because you have communicated to every single cell in your body..That they should operate you with out fiber, with out micro nutrients, with out feeling full content, without the metabolic change over needed to deweaponize the fat forming shield you have more than successfully built from within.

No veges.. limited if any weight loss.. Period. No will power to beat back your emotional treason for veges no top end success.
Your acceptance of fruit.. natures candy, does not cut the mustard because most of the fruit, bananas, grapes, pineapple, peaches, all have an enormous amount of double digit sugars..and you have no means to drive it down to single digit level.. the level needed to loose unwanted body fat.

And because of your disdain for veges your mindset compounds your situation 10 Fold..as every carb you eat will translate to abnormal amounts of sugars.. that will signal every system of your body to put this human operating system on lock down...Time to fort knox his metabolic fat vault.

Your first order of business..is for just one day..diary what you eat with out concern about calories. Im partial to a food energy plan so you do not have to dairy in hind sight every day.. but thats just me..

Once you have this info. The next day try and see where you have the willpower to change, improve, or switch out.a food you need to add in. repeat the next day but this time ask the forum if this was a good change or a bad change..

The idea is to shift the blame from your self to the forum telling you what to eat.. and see if the calories in vs calories out they choose for you will yield the kind of fat loss you want..If you can stick to this for 14 days..and actually eat what the forum suggests..you can attribute your success to those who provided the calorie based a advise..

Your task is to accrue a learning relationship with yourself and fact find about your eating by approval through the miracle that is backed by the very people wanting you to calorie count. As your know how has no reference point to reliably self direct.

Oh and the recent research numbering just over 50 studies, that its more than just calories...its right here

Hormones do not communicate through a human created basic counting system. Unwanted body fat always occurs so as to protect the host from him or herself

  • Here again the blind hold the stick of the blind..

focused on the link but not on the the person requesting a solution..

Every time you TRY to think like you calories concept is gospel.. you hurt yourselves..

Calories for this person is dooming him to failure gain and again and again..

Instead of trying to some how making yourself feel good about bad advice by seeing mine is some how off the deep end..

simply demonstrates..what little life force you have..is but a wimper

as it didnt take much to turn your thinking cap off.. all it took is what failures often do..cherry pick whats wrong instead of recognizing whats right.

Thanks for everyones input. I also have another issue. I very much dislike any and all veggies. I will eat lettuce and spinach if on a sandwhich or in a salad and at times I will eat corn on the cob. But thats about it. I do however love fruit.

Veggies really aren't necessary as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn....HOWEVER, let me say this: It's highly unlikely that you've tried every veggie, prepared every way. It's likely that you've disliked a what you've been exposed to, but be open to new things. Make a point to try vegetables you haven tried before, cooked in different ways. There's practically an infinite variety out there.

And in this forum we debate with physics, biology, microbiology, anatomy, physiology etc.
No, YOU may be here to debate, but I've pointed out repeatedly that I had no desire whatsoever to do so. This thread was about someone asking for advice and numerous people chimed in based on their experience, so I did as well. It was never about debating or proving anything. If my experience doesn't correspond with what you believe or how you want to diet, then you can just ignore it. Other people can make their own choices and do what works for them.

    I'm done here.
